Main difference between costing and cost accounting are given as under :
1.Nature- costing is a technique and process of ascertaining costs whereas cost accounting is regarded as a specialized branch of accounting.
2. Scope - The costing techniques include principles and rules which govern the producer of ascertaining the cost of product/services whereas cost accounting involves classification, accumulation, assignment, and control of costs.
3.process - The process of costing consist of routines of ascertaining costs by historical or conventional costing, standard costing or marginal costing whereas cost accounting involves the establishment of budgets, standard costs or actual costs of operation, classification, recording and appropriate allocation of expenditure.
